Raffles Praslin, Conservation Project

This project started in February 2019 after MCSS were asked by Raffles Seychelles to visit the  Resort on Praslin and see how we could assist them in their conservation efforts. Our primary focus here is on the adjacent coral reef which is situated within the waters of the Curieuse Marine National Park.

Our first activity was to develop a snorkel trail for the resorts guests to discover the local reef.We have also started to make reef modules from coral rubble to help restore impacted reefs and serve as a base for coral transplantation.

We have set up a small coral nursery which has allowed us to start a new coral garden. With the aid of the Seychelles National Parks Authority we hope to expand the nursery to allow us to increase the restoration work we are doing in this area.

This is a new area for MCSS and we are very excited to have this opportunity to work with the Raffles team. We are able to accept some volunteers on this project so please do read the Volunteers Information file and complete the Volunteer Application form.
