 Microlight Pilot Johan's Lucky 'Break'!

Johan MCSS pilot

Johan Anderson, the MCSS micro-light pilot is recovering from a potentially fatal hang-gliding accident in which he suffered a ‘perched dislocation, commonly know as the ‘hangman’s break’. Luckily the doctors were able to relocate the vertebrae without any apparent damage to his spinal chord and Johan now has some nice internal iron-ware locking them back together again!

The accident happened in January while Johan was taking a student up for a training flight he had a big turn on launch and his wing tip caught a bush catapulting them both to the ground. His passenger was unscathed having landed on top of him, but Johan’s neck took the brunt of the fall.

Before and after x-rays of Johan's 'Hangman's break' showing his new internal iron-work that is bound to keep airport security busy!. Images courtesy Johan.

However all is well and Johan is supposed to be taking things easy for several months; he says he will “have more time to finish my book! :-)”. He has assured us that he will be in fighting fit shape for the coming season and we look forward to seeing him back again in August.
