This is the shark’s 12th documented season in Ningaloo’s coastal waters. This male whale shark, owes his name to the prominent scar on his tail and was the first to be 'nicknamed' in the ECOCEAN Library in 1995. 'Stumpy' is renowned with local tour operators as he is often found close to the reef and swimming slowly making him an ideal shark for tourist groups to swim with.
